Liverpool vs Man City Predictions
Matchday 12 of the Barclays Premier League sees Liverpool take on Manchester City. The Merseyside outfit have been on an exceptional run of results in all competitions and currently lead the English Premier League by a massive six points. Their only blemish so far this season came on an away trip to Manchester, where they were held to a 1-1 draw by their fiercest rivals, Manchester United. They will welcome the reigning Premier League champions to Anfield this weekend, hoping to double their lead at the top of the table.
The Citizens, on the other hand, had a stop-and-start start to their 2019-20 campaign. They suffered shock league defeats to newly-promoted Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers. They were held to a draw by Atalanta in their final Champions League game, and to top it all off, they are still waiting for their goalkeeper's fitness to be confirmed. England defender Kyle Walker had to play in goal in midweek after Ederson was injured and Claudio Bravo was sent off.
Liverpool vs Man City Preview
Much has been made in the news about the relationship between the two teams' head coaches, Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola. The City boss has spoken out about Liverpool striker Sadio Mane and his diving. The Senegalese striker responded cynically to the comment, saying he'd do it again if he had the chance to help his team win the penalty in the game.
Sunday's clash with City is expected to be won by Liverpool according to the oddsmakers. Form aside, City's injury list appears to be growing and includes their goalkeeper, who will face a late fitness test this weekend after picking up an injury in the UCL. City captain David Silva, who could also miss the game, joins Rodrygo and Sane on the sidelines.
Liverpool will be looking to extend their unbeaten run and build on their lead at the top of the table to give themselves some breathing space should they hit a few bumps in the road during a busy December fixture list. With a much better head-to-head record against Pep Guardiola, Klopp will undoubtedly be looking for all three points in this one. The two sides met earlier this season in the Community Shield, with City taking the trophy home on penalties.
